Izumo Taisha in Shimane prefecture; one of the most famous shrine in Japan

Izumo Taisha in Izumo city, Shimane prefecture is one of the most famous shrine in Japan.
"Taisha" means "great shrine" in Japanese, and it appears in mythology. It's also famous for god of mariage.

It is said that all gods in Japan gather at Izumo in October. Therefore, October is called "神無月" at all cities except Izumo city, whereas called "神在月" at Izumo city.

Izumo is also famous for soba. Izumo soba is one of the three most famous soba in Japan.
