Toki Messe in Niigata; the beautiful view and Japanese snack Bakauke

There are many sightseeing spots in Niigata city.
You can see the beautiful view of Shinano river at observation room of Toki Messe. Especiaaly, the night view is so beatiful that some Japanese feel it's not in Japan. You can enter here for free.
Shiano river is known as the longest river in Japan. It flows from Niigata prefecture to Gunma prefecture, the length is 367 km.




This is the outside appearance of Toki Messe. It's 143 meter high. Toki means Japanese crested ibis. They are endangered species and inhibited in Niigata prefecture. The name Toki Messe is derived from it.


You can see also the view of city and the Sea of Japan. The Sea of Japan is surrounded by Japan and the Asian Continent.


There is a restaurant at the observation room. You can have a bowl, curry, ice cream and so on with seeing good view.



The Japanese snacks such as Bakauke are selled there. Bakauke is one of the representative snack in Japan. "Baka" means "very" in Niigta dialect. "uke" means funny or acceptable.

 

You can  access to there by foot or bus from Niigata station.
