Where to stay in Tokyo hotel; easily accessible places for sightseeing and safe area

There are many sightseeing spots in Tokyo metropolitan area and suburbs.
It's important for efficient sightseeing to stay at easily accessible places. And it's also important stay at safe place for travelling foreign country.
Here, information about access and safe of some area in Tokyo are introduced.

Basically, JR (Japan Railway) line is more convenient for transporting to other city than other private railway line. And eastern area of Yamanote Line of JR is safer than western area.

1. Tokyo



Tokyo station is the most convenient for transporting to other city and somewhere in Tokyo city. You can take Shinkansen, many conventional lines and subways at this station. It's safe around Tokyo station. Furthermore, you can take Hato bus tour at this station.

2. Ginza



Ginza area is near Tokyo station and convenient for shopping. You can take JR line and subways, and it takes about only 15 minutes by foot from Ginza to Tokyo station. And this area is safer compared with other area in Tokyo. So Ginza is popular for staying.

3. Shinagawa



Shinagawa is also easily accessible and safe place. You can take Shinkansen for Kansai region (Kyoto, Nara etc.) and many JR and private lines at Shinagawa station.
The east side of Shinagawa station is safe, but there are many light crime at some area of the west side of Shinagawa station.
And the neighbor station Tamachi is known as safe area and you can go to Tokyo tower by foot from there.

4. Ueno



Ueno is also easily accessible. You can take Shinkansen for Tohoku and Hokuriku region (Sendai, Kanazawa etc.) and many JR and private lines at Ueno station. It's not safe compared with Tokyo or Ginza, but safer than other many countries.

5. Shinjuku


 

Shinjuku has a Metropolitan Government Building and be easily accessible for sightseeing in Tokyo, but not so convenient for transporting to other cities because it takes about 15 minutes from Shinjuku station to Tokyo station (you can take Shinkansen at Tokyo station) by train. You can take some JR, private lines and subways.
It's said that the west side of Shinjuku station is safe, but the east side is not so safe because there is a entertainment district "Kabukicho." But it might be safer than other many countries.

6. Shibuya



Shibuya is one of the representative amusement area in Tokyo and easily accessible because you can take some JR, private lines and subways. However, there are so many people at Shibuya and it's said there are many crime (mainly light crime) compared with other area in Japan.

7. Asakusa



 
Asakusa is one of the representative of typical Japanese sightseeing spots in Tokyo. You can go to Narita international airport from Asakusa station directly. However, you can't take JR line at Asakusa station, but private lines or subway. You need to go to Tokyo station when you transport to other cities. The security is not bad.

8. Ikebukuro



There are many shopping spaces in Ikebukuro and be easily accessible for sightseeing in Tokyo. You can take some JR, private lines and subways. However, it's not so convenient for transporting to other cities because it takes about 25 minutes from Ikebukuro station to Tokyo station by train. There is a entertainment district the north and west side of Ikebukuro station, it's not safe compared with other area in Japan there.

9. Iidabashi



Iidabashi is between Tokyo station and Shinjuku station. You can take JR line and subway.
There is a youth hostel at Iidabashi ("Tokyo Central Youth Hostel"). The view is good and many foreign traveller stay there. Iidabashi is known as a safe area.
 

10. Yokohama (Kanagawa prefecture)



Yokohama is in Kanagawa prefecture not Tokyo, but it's not so far from Tokyo (about 30 minutes by train). There are many sightseeing spots in Yokohama, too. So staying in Yokohama is good way when you can't find suitable hotel in Tokyo.
