There are many scenic view spots in Izu Peninsula and it is known as a sightseeing spot.
Shimoda is a central city in Izu Peninsula, and you can access there in about 3 hours by train. Especially, Odorikogou is famous as tourist train.

1. Perry Road and the surroundings
You can see Japanese city view in Edo period here, it's nostalgic atmosphere. There are many cafe and you can take a rest.
2. Nesugatayama
Nesugatayama is a mountain near Shimoda station. You can see good view of mountain and sea of Izu direction there. You can access to there by ropeway from Shimoda station.
Toi Gold Mine has a nice atmosphere and this is one of my favourite spots. You can also experience Gold dust picking. You can touch the largest Gold bullion (following picture).
4. Mt. Omuro
You can go up to crater by lift, the view of mountain and sea is good. The view of crater might remind you one scene of Japanese movie "Your name."
5. Atagawa Tropical & Alligator Garden
Atagawa Tropical & Alligator Garden is a Zoo and Botanical Garden. You can see many animals and plants such as Alligator, Red Panda and Banana. It was interesting for me than I imagined.
6. Kurofune train
Kurofune train runs between Atami and Shimoda. The view of sea is wonderful. If you have a chance, you should try it.
7. Monument of Commodore Perry
Commodore Perry is famous as a person who make Japan open the country to the world. Shimoda is the first port and Perry stayed at there.
8. Inubashiri Island
There are some islands in Shimoda bay. Inubashiri Island is near Monument of Commodore Perry and you can cross bridge and arrive at there.
9. Dogashima
Dogashima is a represent scenic spot in Izu Peninsula. There are many islands and caves. You can go around by sightseeing board.
10. Jogasakikaigan
The view of Jogasakikaigan is nice and the suspension bridge is famous. You can access by bus from Ito station.
Izu Peninsula is a famous sightseeing spot and there are many Japanese style hotel Ryokan. You can enjoy it, too.
